Arteta applauded for dropping Partey for former Chelse star vs Newcastle United
Former Manchester United star Gary Neville has applauded Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for dropping Thomas Partey in the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Newcastle United.
The North London side had gone winless in four straight matches until they defeated Chelsea and went on to beat Newcastle United last weekend.
However, the three draws and one defeat they recorded last month are almost costing them the Premier League title, which seems to be getting out of their grip.
While Partey started in all four matches they failed to win, former Chelsea star Jorginho was not named in the starting XI during those times.
He was, however, handed starts against Chelsea on May 2 and Newcastle United five days later.
“Mikel Arteta deserves a lot of credit for picking Jorginho,” he said on his Podcast.
“Many would have said get Thomas Partey back in there. … Jorginho composed his teammates and guided them.”
