Arsenal’s pursuit of Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez could become a reality if the club successfully generates around £100 million through player sales this summer.

Although City is reportedly demanding a hefty fee for Alvarez, the Gunners have already begun to accumulate significant funds from recent transfers.

The sale of Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham has set a new record for Arsenal, earning the club an initial £27 million, along with over £7 million in add-ons.

Additionally, the club is expected to sell Eddie Nketiah, with reports suggesting they have set an asking price of £50 million. Marseille has shown interest, but their current proposals fall short of Arsenal’s valuation.

Premier League clubs are also monitoring the situation and could make offers as the transfer deadline approaches.

Arsenal may also look to cash in on Reiss Nelson, who has attracted interest from Crystal Palace, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, and West Ham United.

The Gunners are reportedly seeking around £20 million, including add-ons, for the winger. If they successfully sell Nketiah and Nelson for their desired amounts, along with the funds received from Smith Rowe’s transfer, Arsenal could generate nearly £100 million in total.

This windfall would put Arsenal in a strong position to meet Manchester City’s demands for Alvarez, which include an initial £70 million and an additional £20 million in add-ons.

While City is in talks with Atletico Madrid, the offer on the table totals only £59 million, with just £46.8 million as the initial fee.

However, manager Mikel Arteta has previously cautioned against making significant expenditures this summer, stating, “We don’t expect to do anything like it. That’s the reality.” Nonetheless, should the Gunners manage to execute their player sales as planned, they could potentially redirect those funds towards securing Alvarez and bolstering their attacking options ahead of the new season.
