Arsenal icon blast new Chelsea star, compares him to Mesut Ozil

Former Arsenal player Paul Merson has shared his opinion on Chelsea’s summer signing Kai Havertz as he compares him to Mesut Ozil who is currently going through a torrid time at the Emirates Stadium.

Kai Havertz was tipped to be Chelsea’s main man when he was signed from Bayern Leverkusen in the summer transfer window but the 21 years old midfielder has been unable to replicate his best form.

Chelsea two consecutive loss have cast some doubt on their Premier League title chances and fans have been skeptical of Kai Havertz performance for the London club.

Paul Merson in one of his latest columns on Daily Star, has now criticize Havertz for not living up to the hype of his arrival at Stamford Bridge.

According to the pundit, the Germany International has shown nothing but the shades of his country man, Ozil, as he lacks the eagerness to help his team when the going gets tough.

Merson noted that Havertz has not been helpful when the Blues are without the ball as he looks uninterested when the team need him most.

Though it’s still early, Merson added that Kai Havertz will have to improve on his games especially the defensive aspect of he wants to make a name for himself at a club like Chelsea.

Kai Havertz illustrious four seasons at Bayern Leverkusen saw him score a total of 36 goals, however, in his first season with Chelsea, the 21-year-old has only scored once in 11 appearances.
