Former Manchester United star Gary Neville has sent a warning message to manager Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal squad on why they must win the UEFA Champions League or English Premier League titles.

Neville stressed that the North London club would be forgotten if they don’t win a title this season.

In his newsletter for The Overlap, Neville urged Arsenal to go all out for “a statement win” against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium this weekend.

So far, Arteta’s squad have failed in two consecutive seasons to unseat Man City in the league.

Recall that in the previous season, Arsenal fell short despite defeating the Citizens 1-0 at home and drawing 0-0 at The Etihad.

According to Neville, if Arsenal’s current team doesn’t win the Premier League or the Champions League, then they could forget about going down in history.

He stressed that while his words may be harsh, it’s the reality of the sport.

Neville said that no one will recall the magnificence of William Saliba and Gabriel at the back, not the brilliance of Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice, David Raya’s extraordinary saves or Bukayo Saka form up front.

So far this season Arsenal have dropped a points as Man City are again favourites to win the EPL title.
