Arsenal focus on Barcelona star after losing Mudryk to Chelsea
Arsenal have now shifted their focus on Barcelona winger Raphinha after Chelsea hijacked their deal for Mykhailo Mudryk.
The report revealed the Gunners have opened talks with Raphina’s agent on a possible transfer to the EPL.
Recall that Arsenal were close to signing Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth around £80m.
However, Chelsea, who are one of the big spenders in the EPL joined the race to beat the Gunners to the signing.
With Gabriel Jesus’s injury layoff, Arsenal are keen on adding a replacement to their attacking line and considered Mudryk as a good option.
But he has gone on to reportedly sign a seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
With the turn of event, Arsenal have turned their attention to Spanish club Barcelona, with former Leeds United attacker Raphinha in mind.
A report via The Evening Standard claimed that Arsenal chief Edu is in contact with Raphinha’s agent and former Chelsea midfielder Deco.
Raphinha joined the Catalans last summer but they are said to be open to offers for the 26-year-old.
Recall that Arsenal and Chelsea also made moves to sign Raphinha from Leeds United last summer but the Brazil star shunned the Premier League giants and settled for Barcelona in a deal of around £55 million.
