Ajax defender’s agent confirms negotiation with Chelsea

Chelsea are now working towards signing a new defender this summer as reports linked them with moves for Ajax defender Jorrel Hato.
Humphry Nijman, Hato’s agent has also confirmed the Blues’ interest in the defender, adding that there are negotiations with Chelsea over a possible summer transfer.
Hato is highly sorted after this summer due to his versatility as he can play on both sides.
Speaking with Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf, Nijman revealed that Ajax and Chelsea have commenced club-to-club discussions too.
“Yes, it’s true Chelsea have contacted Ajax,” Nijman said.
“The only thing I can say is that Jorrel is now in talks with Chelsea.”
There are claims that the Blues are willing to pay £44m (€50m), but the Dutch club are demanding around £52m (€60m) for the defended.
Also Ajax are not under pressure to sell Hato as his contract with the Dutch club doesn’t expire until 2028.
Aside from Hato, Chelsea are also negotiating a deal for another Dutch player Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.
To sign Hato and Simons, Chelsea will need to sell players to fund the moves, with Christopher Nkunku, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Nicolas Jackson, among the players linked with moves away fron Stamford Bridge.
