The game between Arsenal and Newcastle United was interesting especially as it determined the Gunners chances of returning to the UCL next season.

But the Magpies dashed Arsenal’s hope by defeating them in a 2-0 scoreline.

In a post-match statement, Newcastle United coach Eddie Howe has revealed why the Gunners defeated Arsenal.

Howe said Newcastle won because his players played with intensity and exploited the spaces Mikel Arteta’s side left during the match.

Been White scored an own goal while  Bruno Guimaraes found the back of the net to give Newcastle all three points against Arsenal at St. James’ Park

The latest win has placed Newcastle on their best points since they returned to the EPL in 2017.

“It was a brilliant all-round performance. We played with intensity and never let up. We approached the game in a brilliant manner and we did the Premier League proud tonight,” Howe said at his post-match press conference.

“The one thing missing from us was that we had not beaten a top-six team and we deservedly beat them.

“We wanted to press Arsenal and not let them settle into a rhythm but also for the first time in recent performances we saw a team that could have the ball comfortably and be creative. Arsenal competed well and fought well but they left spaces for us and we exploited them.”
