One of the best in the EPL: Mbappe recognizes Arsenal defender

Former PSG and now Real Madrid forward, Kylian Mbappe recently recognized Arsenal’s William Saliba as one of the top Premier League’s centre-backs.

According to Mbappe, the Gunners defender has the talent to be a starter for France at Euro 2024.

The Los Blancos summer signing added that Saliva has become a very key player in the Arsenal squad, which means he deserves a spot in France team.

Recall that Saliba was one of Arsenal’s impressive players in the two last two seasons, earning him a call up in France’s Euro squad.

Arsenal, however, failed to the win the Premier League title, losing to Man City for the second time in a row.

Despite his performance at the club level, Saliba is behind Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano and Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate in Didier Deschamps’ selection hierarchy.

Speaking with Quest-France, Mbappe recalled knowing Saliba since when he was a young player.

The France forward revealed he and Saliba attended the same primary school in Bondy where they played football together during breaks, even though they weren’t in the same year, but Saliba asked to play with his team.

Speaking about Saliba’s performance at Arsenal, Mbappe said:

“This season, he has become a very important player for Arsenal and is among the best centre-backs in the Premier League.”
