Arsenal defender, Jurrien Timber, is the latest player to justify the need for a striker action.

This comes as Timber lamented the Gunners’ fixture pileup by UEFA this season, staying that it is dangerous.

The Dutchman made this comment ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League match against French giants Paris Saint-Germain at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.

The redesign of the UEFA competitions means players are now expected to play more matches than ever before.

Aside from UEFA, FIFA also redesigned its Club World Cup, making it a month-long affair as it would no longer just be the current winners of the Champions League, but former winners as well.

The UEFA Champions League has made some changes, having added more teams and switched from a group stage to a league stage design.

Timber stated that he agreed with going on strike over the tight schedule.

Speaking in a pre-match conference, Timber said via Tribal Football that he agreed with the strike.

He disclosed that it’s a major topic at the moment in dressing rooms, not only at Man City and Liverpool but also in Arsenal’s dressing room.

“I totally understand what they’re saying. I honestly think it’s a dangerous thing,” Timber said.

The defender recall how Arsenal played City and then played again two days later, which he considered too much.
