Carragher names this Arsenal star as the best signing of the season

Liverpool legend and sports pundit Jamie Carragher has named Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale as the best signing of the season so far.

Carragher, in his statement, stressed that he has been left surprised by Ramsdale’s performances and character for Arsenal so far this season.

Ramsdale moved to Emirate stadium from Sheffield United in the summer for £25m and has exceeded expectations.

The 23-year-old has played a massive role in Arsenal’s revitalisation after a poor start in the ongoing campaign.

As of now, Arsenal are seated in the fourth position on the Premier League table.

Asked to name the signing of the season in the Premier League so far, Carragher told Sky Sports: “I went for Ramsdale because it was almost a big surprise to me.

“When they brought him in, I thought they would bring him in as back-up or because he was an English player, for the quota.

“He hadn’t impressed me in his Premier League time at Sheffield United and Bournemouth.

“It’s not just the saves he’s made, he’s a personality, he’s a character.

“To go in the dressing room at Arsenal, yes there are young players there, but it’s still a huge club, going in as a young lad, a goalkeeper.

“He’s got a presence about him that I didn’t see that he had, he’s had a big impact on the team.”
