Arteta praises player as Arsenal defeat Brentford

Arsenal returned to action on Wednesday night in the English Premier League when they played against Brentford.
The North London club who were held to a 1-1 draw against Chelsea over the weekend restored their five-point cushion at the top of the log with a 2-0 win over Brentford.
Arsenal with their recent win at Emirates took another leap towards ending their 22-year wait for a league title.
The Gunners won all three points thanks to a goal from Mikel Merino, who has transformed into one of their most effective forwards, and Bukayo Saka, whose late cameo finally sealed the victory.
Merino was, however, Arsenal standout player as Arteta started him ahead of Viktor Gykores.
The forward timing, power and conviction against Brentford earned him his 11th goal of the campaign for club and country.
Reacting to Merino’s performance, Arteta described it as phenomenal.
“It’s unbelievable what he has done again today,” said Arteta.
“The movement, the quality, the finish, how he times it … it’s phenomenal,” he added.
Arsenal who remain at the top of the Premier League table, will now focus on their next match against Aston Villa this weekend.
