Arsenal Eye Move for Inter Milan Defender as Summer Rebuild Continues

Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Inter Milan defender Carlos Augusto, as the club intensifies efforts to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad ahead of the new season.
Just hours after progressing in their pursuit of Brentford’s Christian Nørgaard, the Gunners appear to be wasting no time in shaping their summer business.
According to FcInterNews, Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is leading the charge for Augusto’s signature. The versatile Brazilian is also attracting interest from Atletico Madrid, where Berta previously worked—potentially giving Arsenal an edge in negotiations.
Augusto, 26, joined Inter from Monza, initially on loan, before making the move permanent in 2024. However, the recent managerial change at the San Siro—replacing Simone Inzaghi with Christian Chivu—has reportedly cast some uncertainty over his future.
Known for his adaptability, Augusto can operate as a left wing-back, left midfielder, or even as a centre-back, making him an appealing option for a team looking to bolster its squad depth. He played a key role in Inter’s Serie A title-winning campaign and could be available for around €30 million (£25.5m).
As Arsenal prepare for the 2025/26 season and the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, Berta’s transfer strategy is becoming increasingly clear: secure proven, versatile players who can slot into multiple roles. With targets like Nørgaard and Augusto now firmly on the radar, Arsenal look determined to add quality and flexibility to their ranks as they chase domestic and international success.
