Former Manchester United star, Roy Keane, has addressed the rumours of him taking up an interm role at Old Trafford.

Keane also gave a reason he would not be replacing Erik ten Hag as the club’s manager.

The Man Utd icon cleared the air while responding to a question about him potentially replacing the Dutchman.

Recall that the 53-year-old former player was once into football management, taking charge of Sunderland and Ipswich after his retirement in 2006.

However, he has been linked with a return to Old Trafford in a managerial role.

This is, however, out of the question for Keane, who thinks the club owners would not even bother to come for him.

During a conversation on The Overlap podcast, Keane was asked by Ian Wright about signing on to be Man United’s interim manager.

He responded by saying, “They’re not gonna be asking me. They wouldn’t.”

Meanwhile, Man Utd hierarchy are divided on Ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford as they were unable to reach a common decision during their last meeting which took place during the week.

So far, former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel appears to be the favourite to replace Ten Hag if the Dutchman were sacked.
