Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard has finally opened up on why he made the loan move to West Ham United after a torrid time under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Jesse Lingard was one of United beat youngster during Jose Mourinho’s era at the club but the England international failed to live up to the hype under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He was forced to join David Moyes’ West Ham United squad in the January transfer window and have been showing his class at the club.

Having failed to make a single Premier League appearance for Solskjaer’s side in the first half of the season, Lingard had revealed how difficult it was staying on the sideline.

Speaking with BT Sport, Lingard stated that he’s at West Ham United to play, win and help the team, so hopefully, he can do that and he’ll see where both parties come to the end of the season.

According to Lingard, it’s about playing with a smile on his face and enjoying his football and getting back to the old Jesse.

He stated that during the lockdown, he recapped his best moments playing football the season under Jose Mourinho where he scored all of those goals and went to the World Cup and the season when Ole came in and he started well.

Lingard added that he started getting that fire in his belly and drive again to go and kick on because it would have been easy for him to fall off and take the easy option out, but a person like him who’s been through a lot and knows the game, he can’t just give it up like and he’ll always go out with a fight.

On why he was unable to make Solskjaer’s team, Lingard added that he came back one of the strongest and fittest in the United squad after the lockdown and he didn’t get my chance that he was waiting on but the whole time he was there and not playing he was doing extra training and keeping on top of his fitness for when the time was right.
