Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hints at position change for youngster at Manchester United
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that young forward Mason Greenwood might be having a switch of position in the next few matches.
Mason Greenwood burst into the big scene last season, banging in goals from all cylinder but things have changed this season as the arrival of Cavanni from Paris Saint-Germain have seen him become a part-time player.
The 19-years-old scored 17 goals last season but things have changed this season.
Speaking to the press ahead of his team Europa League clash with Real Sociedad, Solskjaer insisted that Greenwood who predominantly plays on the right side of a front three will likely move into a more central position as he matures over the next couple of seasons.
Solskjaer stated that Greenwood was a bit shy there because he can play No.10, as well as a shadow striker.
The United boss pinpointed that he can play right, centre-forward, 10 and, at a stretch, maybe on the left as the coaching crew just have to give him time to find his final position.
According to Solskjaer, Greenwood is a forward who moves well along the line at the moment at his age and his development.
Though physically, sometimes you don’t want to be right up in the mix and the middle with the big brutal centre-backs next to you Solskjaer thinks United have found that he can play both.
Solskjaer added that that will be in the next year or two, if Greenwood is going to be a No.9 or a forward or, as he said, as a shadow striker, in and around the goal.
