Manchester United Seeks £40 Million for Jadon Sancho Amid Transfer Speculation
Manchester United has reportedly set a price tag of £40 million on Jadon Sancho, signaling their intention to offload the English forward during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Sancho, formerly of Manchester City, spent the latter part of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he notched three goals and three assists in 21 appearances, showcasing his talent during his return to BVB.
While Dortmund is interested in retaining the 24-year-old, they seem more inclined towards another loan deal rather than a permanent transfer, given the financial implications.
Despite speculation that a potential departure of manager Erik ten Hag could see Sancho reintegrated into United’s squad, BBC Sport reports that even if Ten Hag exits, the Red Devils are committed to selling the forward, seeking £40 million for his services.
United’s decision is purportedly driven by the need to bolster their squad and generate funds, recognizing Sancho as an asset capable of commanding a substantial transfer fee.
European giants like Juventus have shown interest in Sancho, while Dortmund remains a potential destination despite initial hesitations.
Sancho’s stint at United has been underwhelming, managing only 12 goals and six assists in 82 appearances across all competitions. His relationship with Ten Hag soured, leading to a loan move back to Dortmund in January.
Despite his struggles at United, Sancho boasts an impressive track record at Dortmund, tallying 53 goals and 67 assists in 158 appearances across two spells.
With his contract running until June 2026, United holds leverage in negotiations, particularly considering his recent performances at Dortmund and the interest surrounding him in the transfer market.
Additionally, United is reportedly considering selling Mason Greenwood this summer, with Benfica emerging as a potential suitor in the ongoing transfer saga.
