Manchester United have confirmed Joe Hugill’s exit from Old Trafford to join League One side Burton Albion on loan for the remainder of the season.

This was after the young Academy striker sealed a new deal with the Reds on Wednesday.

Recall that Hugill penned a contract which will keep him at Man Utd until 2026, with the option of an extra year.

Before his exit from Old Trafford, Hugill had the opportunity to train regularly with Man United’s first team under manager Erik ten Hag this season.

He was named as a substitute by Ten Hag on four occasions, most recently for Monday’s 2-0 Emirates FA Cup victory at Wigan Athletic.

His move to Burton Albion will see him gain valuable experience at the Pirelli Stadium where he is certain to get regular game time.
