Manchester United have had a change of decision on selling their striker and Uruguay international Edison Cavani.

Cavani had been linked with moves to Spanish club Barcelona, with previous reports claiming he would move to Camp Nou during the January transfer window.

However, as it stands, the Red Devils are no longer permitting Cavani to leave in January as they now want to keep the veteran Uruguayan striker for the rest of the season.

Cavani is in the final year of his contract with the Red Devils and will now leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Barca had hoped to sign the Red Devils striker this January after the unexpected retirement of Sergio Aguero.

The Catalans were reported to have shown interest in Cavani, with the player also willing to move to Camp Nou this January.

But MailOnline reports that Man Utd want the veteran striker to remain at the club for the rest of the season.

A major reason for this is as a result of the Covid-19 virus, as the Red Devils want to have enough players on the ground in case they get hit.
