Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has ruled out Chelsea the EPL title race for this season.

Carragher, in his statement, believes the race to win a title this season is now between Man City and Liverpool, who are seated at the first and second spot on the table.

Chelsea were once at the top of the Premier League table in their first 14 matches of the season; however, after that, they had slipped to the third spot.

Also, Chelsea have seen their impressive form dip as they struggle in recent weeks and have only won just five points from their last four games.

Their key players like Romelu Lukaku, Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz, N’Golo Kante and Timo Werner have missed at least one game during that period.

Carragher fears that Chelsea may have ended their title chances this season.

“Most people think they [Man City] have the edge over Liverpool and Chelsea. It’s difficult to be too critical of Liverpool’s [2-2] draw against Tottenham, it’s not an easy game and they’ve got Covid-19, they played Thursday night,” he told Sky Sports.

“But what Liverpool can’t afford to do is what’s happened to Chelsea, where three points become six. I think that’s very very difficult for Chelsea to get that back.

“Liverpool at the moment, it’s one game but they can’t allow that gap to five, six, seven points otherwise we’ll be fearing that the title will be going back to Manchester again.”
