Former Man Utd star Wayne Rooney has thrown his weight behind manager Erik ten Hag who is under pressure at Old Trafford.

Recall that the Dutchman was closed to be sacked in the summer but managed to retain his job after he led Man United to FA Cup win against Manchester City at Wembley.

Following the win, he was rewarded with an additional one-year on his deal to extend his contract until the summer of 2026.

However, Man Utd’s woes this season has put his job on the line again, with the Red Devils winning just two of their opening seven Premier League matches.

With the Red Devils down in 10th position, there are speculations that the Man United hierarchy could take a decision on Ten Hag’s when they meet on Tuesday and turn to former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel as his replacement.

Ahead of the meeting Ten Hag has received the support of Plymouth Argyle manager, Rooney.

When asked if Ten Hag was the right man for Man United, Rooney told Sky Sports news that it was down to the club owners to decide on that but he’s sure the Dutchman is a fantastic manager.

Rooney pointed out that Ten Hag won trophies wherever he’s been and including at Old Trafford.

The former Man Utd star hopes Ten Hag will be able to get things right at Old Trafford, else the Red Devils will undergo another rebuild with a different manager.
