FA Cup: How Man Utd’s shaky victory against Coventry City will affect Ten Hag’s job
Former Liverpool star, Jamie Carragher has claimed that Manchester United’s shaky win against Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final clash on Sunday would ultimately cost Erik ten Hag his job at Old Trafford.
A highlight from the match saw Man United taking the lead with a 3-0 scoreline, thanks to goals from Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, and Bruno Fernandes.
However, the game became heated after Coventry City made an unexpected comeback, scoring three goals in the second half to take the match to extra time and eventually penalty shootout.
Although, Man Utd managed to win the game on penalties, however, Carragher believes there would be consequences as Man Utd performance was poor.
Speaking via Sky Sports, Carragher said there has been no progress at Man United under Ten Hag.
He said: “I think that result has just cost Erik ten Hag his job. I don’t see how he stays, I really don’t.
“It’s just poor performance after poor performance. That dressing room is probably the most embarrassed dressing room from a team that has just won a big game.
“You can’t even celebrate that win. Maybe that can somehow win the final but I just don’t see any progress.”
