Last season was a season to forget for Liverpool, especially Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez, who spent most of the season on the treatment table.

Both centre-back hardly featured for Liverpool last season as Jurgen Klopp and his boys went through the season without a trophy.

The reds conceded goals cheaply without their most trusted centre-back and were on the verge of missing out on the Champions League before a final push.

With a new season set to start in the next few weeks, Joe Gomez has revealed the positive influence Virgil van Dijk played during his recovery from injury.

Gomez, while speaking with the official club website, narrated the impact Van Dijk played when they were both struggling with injury.

The England international stated that Van Dijk altitude was massive as there were so many moments, right at the beginning, when they were at home on the sofa and couldn’t move, and they were FaceTiming and speaking about things.

Gomez noted it’s someone to relate to, to vent to at times when you’re frustrated, so it was massive.
