Liverpool have been backed to pursue the signature of Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez this summer as they continue to find a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.

Wijnaldum departed Anfield stadium earlier in the summer on a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain after he failed to agree on a new contract with the reds.

Liverpool have been searching for his replacement ever since, with some top stars already linked with the red.

However, former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips has urged Jurgen Klopp to move for Saul, who he believes will be an excellent replacement for Wijnaldum.

Kevin Philips, who scored 130 goals for Sunderland in the English top-flight, stated that Saul could be a great signing and replacement for Wijnaldum.

According to him, it sounds like Liverpool have great admirers of Saul for a long time, so that they will have done their homework on him.

Philips noted that Saul is coming from the champions of Spain as well, and Liverpool will have a lot of the ball next season, and the Spaniard is someone who possesses that little bit of magic.

Philips added that it could turn out to be an excellent replacement if Liverpool can get him in for money that’s not ridiculous.
