Arsenal Explore Swap Deal to Land Julian Alvarez as Surprise Transfer Plan Emerges

Arsenal are reportedly exploring an ambitious swap deal involving Viktor Gyokeres as they step up their pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.

The Argentina international is understood to have informed Atletico Madrid that he wants to leave the club this summer. Although Barcelona remain his preferred destination, the Spanish side have so far been unable to reach an agreement after Atletico rejected an offer worth around £86 million and remain reluctant to strengthen a direct La Liga rival.

That situation has encouraged Arsenal to explore alternative ways of completing a deal. Reports claim the Gunners discussed the possibility of including Gyokeres as part of a player-plus-cash proposal during early conversations with Atletico Madrid.

Mikel Arteta is believed to view Alvarez as one of his dream signings, with the World Cup winner’s versatility, work rate and proven goalscoring ability making him an ideal fit for Arsenal’s attacking system.

A move for Alvarez is also understood to be independent of Arsenal’s continued interest in Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, with the club still keen to strengthen multiple attacking positions before the transfer window closes.

Meanwhile, Arsenal remain in positive negotiations with Club Brugge over the signing of Greece international Christos Tzolis following Leandro Trossard’s confirmed £17 million transfer to Besiktas.

While any agreement for Alvarez is expected to be complex, Arsenal’s willingness to consider creative solutions underlines their determination to secure one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards as Andrea Berta continues shaping Arteta’s squad for the new season.
