Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has named his home country France favourite to win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

France will play Australia in their first match in Group D on Tuesday evening and will later face Denmark and Tunisia.

Didier Deschamps’ squad will be without a number of their key players like Karim Benzema, Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante, Presnel Kimpembe and Christopher Nkunku, all of whom are under injury.

Wenger, who is considered one of the most successful managers during his time in the Premier League told Wettbasis: “My number-one favourite is France. Not because I’m French by birth but because this Equipe Tricolore has the best attack.”

The former Arsenal manager also named South American giants, Brazil, Argentina, England and Spain as other challengers who could emerge winners.
