World Cup 2026: France, and other 4 contenders
The 2026 World Cup is set to commence on Thursday, June 11 with an opening match between one of the host countries Mexico and South Africa.
Ahead of the commencement of the football tournament, former Arsenal star Thiery Henry has named his favourite contenders to win the trophy.
According to Henry, France stand a chance of winning as they have a strong team. He added that they reached the final of the last two editions of the World Cup.
Henry also named England, Spain, Argentina and Portugal as four other promising contenders to win the World Cup.
“I see France as the top contender – partly because I am French, but also because we have reached the last two finals,” Henry said in a statement via Sports Illustrated.
He also mentioned countries like Norway and Senegal could come with unexpected performances.
Speaking on the German national team, Henry revealed he is waiting for the country to rediscover their best form.
This year’s World Cup tournament is expected to be catch attention, with a number of players making their debut, while it is expected to be the last world cup tournament for football stars like Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
