Chelsea star Mason Mount has revealed his desire to become Chelsea’s next captain amid Cesar Azpilicueta’s link away from the club this summer.

Azpilicueta has been linked to Spanish club Barcelona this summer.

It is believed that if Chelsea are able to complete a move for  Jules Kounde from Sevilla, they would be willing to let the Spain international leave.

Azpilicueta has spent nine years at Stamford Bridge, winning different trophies and now want to return to his home country, with Camp Nou his next destination.

Azpilicueta’s absence during the Blues’ defeat to Charlotte on Wednesday saw l Mount get the opportunity to wear the armband.

“Yes, I am still young and I am still learning but whenever the opportunity comes to step up I want to take it,” Mount told reporters.

“Obviously, the gaffer trusted me with captaining the side in the second half and I take that responsibility.”

If Azpilicueta leaves, Chelsea may consider handing the band to other experienced players like Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, as well as new signing Raheem Sterling, among others.
