Why Lukaku turned down move to Saudi club

Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku has rejected a move to the Saudi Pro League as he expressed his annoyance with the Blues over their refusal to grant him his ideal move.

Recall that Lukaku completed a move back to Serie side Inter Milan on loan during the 2022/23 season, having fallen out with former Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel.

The Belgian star was crucial in helping Inter Milan reach its first Champions League final in 13 years.

Owing to this, the 30-year-old would like to remain at the Nerazzurri for another season, but Chelsea doesn’t want to send him out on loan again.

The Telegraph reported that Lukaku is frustrated at Chelsea’s stance, particularly with no other major European club showing an interest in him as of now in the transfer window.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s new manager, Mauricio Pochettino is keen on slimming down his squad ahead of the start of pre-season.

The Blues also want to get all deals done for every player Pochettino consider as surplus.
