Why former Chelsea manager turned down Saudi club offer

Former Chelsea and now AS Roma manager, Jose Mourinho, has turned down the offer to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli.

The report revealed Mourinho was tipped as a potential appointment for the Saudi club but it seems the move wouldn’t be happening.

Recall that the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager had been linked with Paris Saint-Germain earlier this season but he stayed put in the Italian Serie A league.

It appears Mourinho is keen on remaining in Italy, having told Al-Ahli that he does not have any interest in managing the club.

A report via Sky Italia revealed Mourinho attended a meeting with Al-Ahli’s president in London to inform him that he did not want the offer.

It seems that a number of Saudi clubs were hoping to bring the Portuguese to the league, having already signed players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

However, Mourinho has not chosen to take up the option.
