Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino in a recent statement has opened up on why his side suffered a defeat to Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Pochettino watched as Brentford secured three points against his team thanks to goals from Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo.

However, speaking at his post-match press conference, the former Tottenham Hotspur manager said Chelsea were not clinical in front of goal against the visitors, adding that the Blues failed to score after the first half.

“After the first half, we should score and we should. If you don’t score you should blame yourself,” Pochettino said.

“We were not clinical. Sometimes you need luck and after for sure the game changed in the second half. We cannot concede this type of goal.”

Pochettino will now have to focus on Chelsea’s next match in the EFL Cup where they will now tackle Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday.
