Valencia want former Chelsea boss as new manager

Valencia are allegedly eyeing up Jose Mourinho as their next manager following the 58-year-old’s firing from Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Chelsea boss was sacked from the North London club on Monday morning subsequent to winning only one of his last six games in charge, and his replacement Ryan Mason steered Spurs to victory in his first game against Southampton in midweek.

Celtic are evidently expecting to lure the ex-Chelsea and Manchester United manager to Parkhead as they eye replacement for Neil Lennon, however a return of Spain for Mourinho has also been mooted.

As per Todofichajes, Valencia are interested to move on from Javi Gracia – who has taken only 35 points from 32 league games this term – and owner Peter Lim has effectively been in contact with Jose Mourinho’s representative Jorge Mendes.

The ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager is evidently planning to travel to Spain to hold talks with the La Liga club and Lim, whom he has a decent connection with, and Mourinho is believed to be Valencia’s priority target in a tough situation notwithstanding links with Granada boss Diego Martinez.

Valencia’s 3-1 loss to Osasuna on Wednesday night sees them languish in fourteenth spot in the La Liga rankings with six games left to play.
