Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

This comes after the Blues returned to action after a few days of rest from football.

According to the statement made via Chelsea official website, Tuchel will now follow necessary self-isolation protocols, but he is expected to join up with the Blues squad in Abu Dhabi later next week.

Chelsea team are scheduled to fly out for the Club World Cup after this afternoon’s FA Cup clash with Plymouth Argyle.

The Blues assistant coach Arno Michels in a statement with the media before kick-off of their game vs Plymouth, revealed that he would be in close communication with the boss.

‘He was fully in charge throughout the whole week with the preparation for the game so he knows exactly what’s going on today,’ he said.

‘We will stay in touch with him during the game as well, so it’s all good.’
