Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, has been full of applause for the Blues striker and Belgium international Romelu Lukaku following their recent 3-2 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

Tuchel, in his post-match statement, described Lukaku as the Blues player that is ‘super important.’

According to Tuchel, Lukaku doesn’t need a speech to play, adding that the Belgium international is a key player in Chelsea’s squad.

A goal from the Belgian striker and Jorginho’s penalty brace gave the Blues all three points vs Aston Villa.

Reece James scored an own goal during the match, which gave Aston Villa the only goal they had during the match.

Speaking at his post-match press conference after the game, Tuchel said, “There is no doubt he is super important. Every player is, but Romelu will be a key player.

“He was unlucky to get injured, then struggled to come back in the schedule, then Covid. 45 minutes was more than the fitness department recommended, but we thought we could take the risk.”

Tuchel added, “He does not need me to play a game like this, he doesn’t need a speech. He just needs to get fit and this isn’t easy when you have an injury and a body like Rom.

“If you look in detail, you see we are struggling and taking some huge risks, but today we forced Callum to play 90 minutes. That’s the way it is.”
