Chelsea returned to action on Sunday evening in the Carabao League final, where they went head to head against Liverpool at Wembley.

The match was an intense one as they played the whole minutes of the match in a goalless draw.

Liverpool went on to win the Carabao League final on a penalty shoot of 11-10 against Chelsea.

At the end of the match, accusing fingers were pointed at Chelsea’s goalie Kepa Arrizabalaga for the Blues’ defeat.

In a post-match statement, the Blues coach Thomas Tuchel has now come to Kepa’s defence as he stressed that the goalie was not to be blamed.

Instead, Tuchel stressed that he takes the blame; the game against Liverpool saw the German manager introduce Kepa to replace Eduoard Mendy in the 119th minute ahead of the shootout.

However, the Spanish goalie failed to save any kick and missed the crucial one himself.

Speaking after the game, Tuchel said: “We don’t know what would’ve happened if we left Edou on the pitch. No blame on Kepa. Blame on me as I’m the guy who takes the decisions.

“Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. This is life as a football coach.”
