Pep Guardiola is eager to return to Atletico Madrid to sign defender Renan Lodi who has failed to secure a starting berth under Diego Simeone.

Manchester City have had their injury problems this season and the current Coronavirus outbreak in the team might force them into making a huge statement in the transfer window.

Pep Guardiola has been having lapses in his defends despite spending millions to bring in the likes of Nathan Ake in the transfer window and he has seen a solution in Renan Lodi.

Lodi has appeared in just eight La Liga games this term, starting five of them and he will be willing to leave the club for greener pastures.

According to the Daily Mail, Pep Guardiola is monitoring the left-back situation at Atletico Madrid as he still has some doubts remain Benjamin Mendy’s consistency and fitness.

Though Manchester City would have loved to add Lodi to their squad as soon as possible, the reports added that a deal might not work out this January due to the fact that COVID-19 restricts clubs’ abilities to finance big-money moves in the current transfer window.

Lodi is under contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2025 and will be eager to play under Pep Guardiola who has been able to make a name for himself in the world of football.
