Liverpool could extend the contract of this 30-year-old amidst moves to Barcelona

EPL champions, Liverpool may have a rethink over extending the contract of their midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum before the end of the season.

Wijnaldum once again proved why he is a key player in the Reds squad during their faceoff vs. Wolves at Anfield last night.

The Liverpool midfielder put in a fine display during his side’s 4-0 thumping of Wolves as he scored a superb curling goal in the second half.

So far this season, he has made 10 appearance in 11 games for Liverpool in the Premier League, which is proof of how important he is to the team.

However, the future of the 30-year-old remains uncertain as his contract will end at the end of the season.

While speaking in a post match yesterday, Wijnaldum, who was linked with a move to Barcelona in the summer, when asked about his contract told Amazon Prime to ask Liverpool about his situation rather than him.

“I already said in my previous interview I don’t speak about my contract situation, I speak about the games,” he said.

“The club should speak about my contract.”

“There was a connection from the first moment that I came here. The supporters support me a lot but like I said it’s not for me to speak about my contract right now.”
