Transfer boost for Chelsea as Brighton drop midfielder

Chelsea may have been handed a transfer boost in their bid to sign Brighton midfielder, Moises Caicedo this summer window.

This comes as the Seagulls’ midfielder was left out of the squad for their final pre-season friendly against Rayo Vallecano.

It is no news that Caicedo has been the subject of several bids from Chelsea, who are keen on signing to bolster their midfielder under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

According to Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports, the Seagulls manager Roberto De Zerbi decided to give Caicedo a full weekend off to maintain focus on their Premier League season opener against Luton Town.

Chelsea are interested in signing Caicedo following the exits of N’Golo Kante to Saudi, Mason Mount to Man Utd and Mateo Kovacic to Man City this summer.

While talks have been constant between the two clubs, they have not been able to reach an agreement owing to the Seagulls’ demand.
