Tottenham told to make moves for this Chelsea target

Former Leeds United player, Noel Whelan, has sent a message to Tottenham Hotspur over Everton’s Anthony Gordon, who was linked with Chelsea in the summer.

Whelan in his statement said Gordon would be a suitable signing for Tottenham Hotspur as he urged manager Antonio Conte to sign him in the near future, adding that the player suits Spurs’ style of play.

Recall that Gordon made headlines in the summer window after reports claimed he was on Chelsea’s radar.

However, the west London side were unable to complete the move for him amid claims that the price tag placed on the forward was too high.

“I think you would get more out of him [Gordon] in a more attacking side. Everton don’t use their front three to their strengths,” Whelan told Football Insider.

“When you look at how the injuries to Kulusevski, Richarlison, and Son have hurt Spurs, they might need that bit more backup. I think he suits Tottenham because he can play on the left, through the middle, and on the right.”

He added: “Conte will have thought they had enough, but he’s probably realised he needs just one more player now that he’s down to the bare bones. It could be one of those seasons where injuries take over, especially with the World Cup.

“There’s no doubt Gordon is a quality player with plenty more to come from him.”
