Tottenham’s Unusual Sandro Tonali Approach Leaves Fans Confused

Tottenham Hotspur have left supporters scratching their heads after reports emerged that the club asked Newcastle United to reconsider their initial offer for Sandro Tonali instead of submitting an improved bid.

The North London side are determined to strengthen their midfield this summer and have identified the Italian international as one of their top transfer targets. New head coach Roberto De Zerbi is believed to be a long-time admirer of Tonali, while several other Premier League clubs, including Manchester City and Arsenal, continue to monitor his situation.

According to reports, Tottenham held positive discussions with Tonali’s representatives before making an opening bid worth £75 million. However, Newcastle swiftly rejected the proposal, with the Magpies valuing the midfielder at closer to £100 million.

Rather than increasing their offer, Spurs reportedly returned with an unexpected request, asking Newcastle to rethink their decision. The unusual strategy has sparked widespread debate on social media, with many fans questioning why the club chose not to table an improved bid if they are serious about signing the 26-year-old.

Tonali is understood to be open to considering his future ahead of the new season, with reports suggesting he would be willing to move to London after spending three years at Newcastle. That has given Tottenham encouragement that a deal could still be possible.

Despite the player’s apparent openness to a transfer, Newcastle remain under no pressure to sell one of their most influential midfielders. Unless Tottenham significantly increase their offer, convincing the Magpies to part ways with Tonali this summer could prove to be a difficult challenge.
