Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has nothing but words of praise for Timo Werner as he backs the German international to rediscover his goalscoring form.

Timo Werner was signed from RB Leipzig for a fee of around £45m but has struggled to score goals for the past few weeks, going on a 14 Premier League goal drought.

The Germany international has managed just one goal in his last 19 games for the club and it was against League Two side Morecambe in the FA Cup.

However, Tuchel while speaking after the match stated that it was a brilliant run for the first goal and it was good decision-making in the second to go around the goalkeeper and he got the decisive penalty again, as he did at Tottenham.

The noted that he could see the Tottenham game gave Werner a boost in confidence and he was unlucky in that game not to score, but he worked incredibly hard and was disciplined and today he was really strong and in the game mentally and physically.

Not ready to hide his joy for Werner, Tuchel added that it is important because if he continues like this he is sure the goals will come.

Chelsea have maintained a good tempo under Tuchel and hopefully keep it that way till the end of the season.
