Chelsea’s co-owners are reportedly orchestrating a transfer that could have future benefits for the club.

Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have been highly active in the transfer market since their arrival in May 2022, showing no signs of slowing down.

In addition to their work with Chelsea, the consortium known as BlueCo—which includes Boehly, Clearlake, Mark Walter, and Hansjorg Wyss—has also acquired French club Strasbourg.

Since this acquisition, Chelsea youngsters Angelo Gabriel and Andrey Santos have enjoyed successful loan spells at Strasbourg, with Gabriel playing for the entire season and Santos joining in January.

While those were temporary moves, reports suggest that Boehly and his team are now finalizing a permanent signing for Strasbourg, which could benefit Chelsea in the long run.

Pedro Lima ‘On His Way to Strasbourg’

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sport Recife prospect Pedro Lima is set to join Patrick Vieira’s Strasbourg side. Romano indicates that the deal could be completed within days, with personal terms already agreed upon.

Although the 17-year-old is expected to move to Strasbourg permanently, a future transfer to Chelsea remains a possibility.

Who is Pedro Lima?

Like many Brazilian talents linked with Chelsea recently, Pedro Lima has significant experience in senior football.

The versatile right-sided player, capable of operating as a full-back or wing-back, has scored two goals and provided two assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.

This includes seven matches in Brazil’s second tier and a full 90-minute performance in a recent Copa do Brasil victory over top-flight team Atletico Mineiro.

Chelsea could have directly signed Lima and loaned him to Strasbourg. However, doing so would complicate their use of allotted foreign loans for the summer transfer window.

Chelsea is likely to loan at least one player to Strasbourg for the 2024-25 season, potentially including Santos given his impressive performance in the latter part of the campaign.
