Chelsea defender and Brazil international Thiago Silva has appealed to his team-mate and captain Cesar Azpilicueta not to leave Stamford Bridge for Camp Nou.

Silva, in his statement, described the Spaniard as a “spectacular footballer” who is one of the Blues’ key players at the back.

So far, since joining Chelsea from Marseille ten years ago, Azpilicueta has made over 450 appearances for the Blues.

Thanks to his career with the Blues, Azpilicueta has won every major trophy to be won, which includes the EPL, UCL, and FIFA Club world cub, which they won recently.

However, Azpilicueta has been heavily linked with a transfer from Chelsea as he enters the final months of his contract with the club.

While Chelsea want to extend his contract, they are unable to do so because of his sanction placed on them.

Silva, who joined Chelsea in 2020, told Mundo Deportivo: “Cesar Azpilicueta since I arrived, was one of my main sources of support.

“There are players who have what it takes to be captain and he is one of them. He is a player who seeks union, who tries to help others.

“He is a spectacular footballer and a super-professional who, with certainty, deserves to be where is. Azpilicueta has beastly conditions.”
