Potter told to stop expecting praises

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has sent a message to Chelsea manager Graham Potter, telling him to stop moaning about criticism and focus on doing his job properly.

According to Jordan, Potter needs to understand that criticism and mean words go with the tribalism and emotion of football.

“That’s why you’re in a job getting paid £10million a year,” he said in talkSPORT, adding that if there were no emotions, football would not be as rewarding as it is.

“This is the business that you’re in. You’re a big-time manager and you have to have resilience and fortitude – that is my opinion,” he added.

Potter was also advised to focus on the challenges before him rather than the background noise.

“So ignore the rampant lunatic who sends you an awful message, because they are irrelevant,” Jordan said.

He added that if Chelsea were performing poorly, Potted should expect pressure and be able to handle it.

“I get tired of this weakness in football that only praise will suffice. He’s damn sure not going to get any, because he’s not entitled to it.”
