Former Chelsea midfielder, Andy Townsend, in a recent statement said he wants the club’s coach Graham Potter to leave out summer signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from his squad.

Townsend, who said this ahead of the Blues’ away Premier League tie with Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon, said he wants to see Aubameyang’s reaction.

Aubameyang moved to Chelsea from Barcelona during the summer transfer window.

The Gabon international has made four starts in four of Potter’s five matches in charge of the west London club so far and found the back of the net in three of those games.

However, Townsend still believes Aubameyang is a great goalscorer.

“Great goalscorer, fantastic record, I understand all of that,” Townsend told talkSPORT.

“What will define Aubameyang for him at Chelsea, as an older player, if he gets left out, I will be very interested to see his reaction.”
