Chelsea manager Graham Potter has fired back at those who are mounting pressure on him to impress immediately at Chelsea.

Following Chelsea’s latest defeat in the Premier League to Manchester City, some fans took to social media to say Potter was running out at Stamford Bridge as they call for his sack.

Potter moved to Chelsea from Brighton in September after former manager Thomas Tuchel was sacked.

However, so far, Chelsea have dropped to the 10th spot on the Premier League table, 10 points off the top four after spending around £280m on new players ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

“The owners are billionaires so they’re quite smart,” he told the press on Saturday.

“Smarter than me, that’s for sure. So they understand the challenges that we have and the direction we want to go in.

“I’ve been here for four months and five, six weeks of that have been lost to international football.

“I think Pep (Guardiola) was (at Manchester City) a year before they’d won anything, and then obviously Mikel (Arteta) and Jurgen (Klopp) took a bit of time.”
