Cole Palmer returned to action for Chelsea as they faced his former club Manchester City on Saturday at Etihad Stadium.

Former Manchester United star, Gary Neville singled out Palmer for criticism over his post-match chat with Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola.

According to Neville, the 22-year-old didn’t do enough against Man City and should not have chatted with Guardiola immediately after the game.

Neville stressed that Guardiola sold Palmer and didn’t play him during his time at Etihad Stadium.

Man City won all three points against the Blues after beating the visitors 3-1.

The game saw the Blues taking the lead after Nicolas Jackson pounced on a mistake from Abdukodir Khusanov to give Noni Madueke a tap-in from close range.

However, Man City came back to win thanks to three goals from Josko Gvardiol, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.

The game saw Palmer struggle to make an impact and after the match, he was spotted smiling and having a lengthy chat with Gaurdiola on the pitch.

Neville was not pleased with Palmer’s display, insisting he was being played.

“I want to say something about Cole Palmer, he was talking to Pep Guardiola on the pitch right at the end of the game and he was smiling with him, Pep Guardiola does that,” Neville told Sky Sports.
