Nkunku addressses lack of game time under Maresca
Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku may have more goals for Chelsea than starts, but he is the Blues second forward under Enzo Maresca who favour Nicolas Jackson.
Nkunku already has seven goals this season and has only started in five games for the club.
The striker who is on international duty for France and set to play his first game for his country in over a year, spoke about his role at club level and his best position.
Recall that Chelsea has initially signed the Frenchnan with the idea of making him their main man, but the injuries he sustained last season meant he had to play catch-up.
This season, he has, however, managed to revive a healthy competition between himself and Jackson, and has said all he has to do is continue being effective and leave the decisions to Maresca to make.
In his words,
“I try to be as efficient as possible, whether I start or not. After that, there is a club coach who makes his choices, and we must accept them.”
Nkunku added that he is hungry to play and show what he is capable of at Chelsea.
Meanwhile the Blues will return to action after the international break by playing Liverpool in their first game.
