Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca in a recent statement dropped his comment about goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez’s performance so far at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca noted that Sanchez is far from the level he wants him to be.

The Blues boss stressed that the Spain international still has a lot of improving to do in his form for the west London side.

Recall that Sanchez was reinstated as Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper after the arrival of Maresca last summer.

However, he has endured a mixed season at the goal, having made four errors leading to goals in the Premier League.

Maresca in a statement ahead of Chelsea’s game against Man City on Saturday said Sanchez is getting better but he is still far from what he needs to be.

When asked about the jeers Sanchez was subjected to by the Blues fans, Maresca said it was not good for the goalkeeper’s confidence, while adding that the Spaniard is a professional to handle such situations.

“It is an experience for him. He has to improve also to deal with that kind of moment during a game at home where the fans, for any reason, are not happy. He has to manage that moment,” Maresca added.
