Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca in a recent statement expressed his excitement ahead of their first outing in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The Blues will return to action on Thursday evening when they host Belgian side Gent at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will head to the match after four wins and will hope to maintain the momentum when they play Gent.

Speaking about the Blues debut in the Conference League, Maresca said his team are excited since it is an official competition.

The manager stressed that his players are going to do their best and since it’s an European competition, they need to be ready for it.

He also spoke on the need for Chelsea players to adapt to playing in the Europe League.

“This [playing on Thursdays and Sundays] is not because of the Conference League, it’s the same in the Europa League and even now in the Champions League. We need to adapt,” Maresca said.

The manager in his pre-match statement also spoke on how he has been making Chelsea players happy by sharing minutes with all of them.

He disclosed that he tends to give some of the players game time in the Premier League and other leagues.

“We try to give them the opportunity. Against Barrow, they all did a very good game and hopefully tomorrow we can do the same,” he added.
