Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has opened up on what motivated him for Euro 2020 after an impressive debut season for Pep Guardiola’s team.

Ruben Dias was Manchester City’s most outstanding player last season, helping them win the Premier League and the league cup.

The former Benfica showed how unreplaceable at City as he played 50 matches in all competitions in the 2020-21 campaign apart from his national team commitments was.

His performance saw him named England’s Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association.

Speaking ahead of Portugal’s second match against Germany, Dias revealed what motivated him ahead of the competition.

He noted that his performance at Manchester City motivates him as he likes to outdo himself, and he wants to play consistently on the red line.

Dias noted that he wants to do things that nobody has done before, and the chance to represent his country with all these games behind him only motivates him further.

He added that this also leads me to believe I can show that he’s doing well, that he’s strong and that he can keep playing.

Dias will be eager to put in a strong performance when Portugal meet Germany in the second match of the Euro 2020.
